Content

• No content condoning or advocating for the oppression of members of marginalized or general discrimination of groups based on characteristics such as gender, race, disability, nationality, education, religion, lifestyle preferences, etc.
• No harassment, stalking, mobbing, deadnaming, intentionally misgendering, or contacting members who have made it clear that they do not wish to be contacted.
• No content that is illegal in the United States and no actions that are intended to damage this Mastodon instance (performance, reputation, security).
• No content propagating support for alt-right, Q-anon, Nazism, or conspiracy narratives.
• No automated accounts (unless approved by moderators). This includes bots, cross posters, feed posters, etc.
• When posting to the local timeline (@oogy.club), provide content warnings (CW) for violence, sexually explicit content, death/disease, and politics, particularly when negative or controversial (e.g., "CW: elections, body dysmorphia").
• When posting to the local timeline (@oogy.club), provide alt captions/descriptions on images where possible.

Best Practices

We ask that Oogy members keep the following guidelines in mind in order to foster a considerate and accessible atmosphere for all members. Forgetting about them is not as serious as breaking instance rules, but repeated malicious unwillingness to follow these best practices will be considered as if it were rule-breaking.

• Use content warnings (CW) liberally, especially for topics that are potentially disturbing or controversial, or that make life harder for people struggling with addiction or trauma.
• Provide credit for creative works that aren't yours.
• Uninvited comments about another member's personal choices, lifestyle, or family are strongly discouraged and may be considered harassment.
• In all discourse, please remain civil. Don't insult the people you're talking to or escalate discussions in a negative or harmful direction.

Enforcement

Rules are only worth as much as their enforcement, so here is what you can expect from Oogy moderators:

• Rules: Unless you've behaved in bad faith, you will receive at least two warning strikes over the life of your account before you are kicked from the instance at the third strike.
• Best Practices: Going against the best practices above can also get you kicked off the instance, but your account would have to have had persistently acted against them...at which point, we'd suggest that oogy.club isn't the best server for you.

Reporting

In addition to formal moderation, we rely on members' self-governance to keep this instance a chill place. Please report any behavior that bothers you. All reports will remain confidential.

Server rules, best practices, enforcement, and reporting details may be updated as needs arise in our community. We (@manuel and @rachel) maintain all things Oogy with our spare time, resources, and sanity. We hope our server becomes a positive testament to all of our combined efforts!
